How to set up a Partner site

Overview

  1. The person administrating your Partner site need to have an Akvo RSR login account
  2. The administrator needs to ask partners@akvo.org for organisation administrator privileges
  3. And ask at the same time to have a blank Partner site created for your organisation

Detailed description

First, you need to have the right account privileges before setting up a Partner site. If your organisation is on a paid services plan, you can request organisation administrator privileges for your users by emailing partners@akvo.org.

During the Akvo RSR 2.0 preview, you will also need to ask your Akvo representative to create the Partner site for you. We're working on getting this capability into the hands of organisation administrators in an upcoming release.

Login to your Akvo RSR Admin account

You can login to your Akvo RSR account here: http://www.akvo.org/rsr/admin. If you can't log in, your organisation may not have requested admin privileges for your account.

Find the Partner sites section

You can go directly to the Akvo RSR Partner sites section of the admin tool here: http://www.akvo.org/rsr/admin/rsr/partnersite/

Click on your Partner site

If you do not see a partner site for your organisation and you have requested one, please contact your Akvo representative. Partner sites must be created by Akvo for you during the RSR 2.0 preview; a later release will allow organisation administrators to create their own.

Now fill in the information in the form fields:

  • Hostname Your hostname is used in the default web address of your partner site. The web address created from the hostname myorganisation would be http://myorganisation.akvoapp.org/. Required (Already filled in during Akvo RSR 2.0 preview period.)

  • CNAME Enter a custom domain name for accessing the partner site, for example projects.myorganisation.org.

Note: You need to ask your web site technical support to help you make this work. This is not an automatic process. Your web site technical support, who manages your DNS records need to help you set this up. Make sure you or your web site technical support understand CNAME records before using this setting.

  • Return URL Enter the full URL (including http://) for the page to which users should be returned when leaving the partner site. Clicking the logo at the top of the partner site, the courtesy back link or the organisation name in the breadcrumb trail will take the user to the URL entered here. If you don’t fill this in, the URL for your organisation in Akvo RSR will be used; if no URL has been set in RSR none of these items will be links. This setting is optional but recommended.

  • Stylesheet: Upload a CSS stylesheet for the Partner site. See CSS for styling your Partner site for an example.

  • Organisation banner logo: Upload a logo file for the banner at the top of the partner site page. By default the logo currently used on your organisation page at www.akvo.org will be displayed.

  • Favicon: Upload a favicon ICO file. A favicon (.ico file) is the 16x16 pixel image shown inside the browser's location bar, on tabs and in the bookmark menu. The file can also be in PNG format.

  • About box text Enter HTML-formatted text you want to appear in the top left box of the home page (500 characters.) Required For more information, see examples of HTML and CSS tags you can use here. (Note Some place holder text may already be filled in during Akvo RSR 2.0 preview period.)

  • About box image Upload a background image for the About box. The image must be exactly 470 pixels wide and 250 pixels tall (470px x 250px).

  • Enabled Enable the site by ticking this checkbox.

Save the settings.

Your new partner site is ready and can be accessed at http://hostname.akvoapp.org!
